Zonar Systems hires new chief strategy officer

SEATTLE, Wash. – Transportation technology company Zonar Systems welcomed University of British Columbia (UBC) graduate Ian McKerlich as its new chief strategy officer Dec. 9.

“Zonar is in a mode of hyper-growth,” said Brett Brinton, co-founder and CEO of Zonar. “(McKerlich’s) wealth of expertise in mobile, product and business strategy is exactly what we need to help drive our company to the next level. (He) is a technology visionary, but understands the importance of meaningful, impactful innovation.”

McKerlich will be responsible for driving Zonar’s corporate strategy and product delivery, as he will bring over 20 years of experience in leadership roles across a range of growth and technology companies.

Prior to joining Zonar, McKerlich was vice-president of products at RootMetrics, where he was responsible for strategy and product development. He has also worked with T-Mobile, McKinsey and Company and RealNetworks.

In addition to a degree in electrical engineering from UBC, McKerlich earned an MBA from Harvard.

Zonar helps public and private fleet managers improve regulatory compliance, increase fleet efficiency and improve safety.
