Accuride’s new wheel treatment protects against rim flange wear

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Accuride has introduced a new aluminum wheel with a specially treated rim designed to reduce rim flange wear seen in heavy-haul, shifting load and frequent stop/start applications.

The Accu-Flange wheel protects against flange wear that results from shifting cargo weight that causes friction between the tire wall and the wheel flange. This friction can cause sharp edges, which can damage tires.

Accuride says its Accu-Flange wheels have a special protective treatment applied to the surfaces of the wheel flange that are most prone to wear. The treatment bonds to the aluminum substrate, forming a barrier that reduces abrasion between the tire wall and wheel rim, the company claims.

The treatment extends wheel life for fleets that carry heavy loads and loads prone to shifting, including lumber, metals, gravel and liquids.

“Accuride continues to provide customers with the broadest line of high-quality steel and aluminum wheels in the commercial vehicle industry,” Accuride president and CEO Rick Dauch said. “Our new Accu-Flange wheels feature a tough protective coating that reduces flange wear and extends service life for miles and miles.”

Accu-Flange is available on many of Accuride’s most popular aluminum wheels. The treatment is backed with a two-year warranty. For more info, visit www.accuridewheelendsolutions.com.
