Bridgestone rolls out retread drive tire

by Today's Trucking

Bridgestone Americas is expanding its Bandag MaxTread line of tires to include the FuelTech Drive retread for drive wheels.

The SmartWay-verified, closed-shoulder retread is designed for over-the-road service, using a special tread compound to lower rolling resistance and improve mileage. It also complies with California Air Resources Board requirements.

Steps to control the movement of tire ribs and tread blocks are included to promote even tread wear, while multiple gripping edges and a siped tread deliver traction on wet and dry surfaces, the company says.

The MaxTread lineup was unveiled earlier this year, and features Bandag retreads as a standalone, single-unit tire rather than a traditional tire cap and casing offering.

The tires support trailer, drive and all-position fitments for light truck, waste, longhaul, severe-service, and pickup and delivery applications.

Available retreads in the drive position include BDM, BDLT, BDV, DR5.3, DR4.3, and the new FuelTech Drive.
