Shell Lubricants says its newly introduced Rotella T3 NG ‘Energized Protection’ oil is for use in engines fuelled by compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). It’s said to use a "customized combination of high performance additives" to adapt and protect under the range of pressures and temperatures found in such motors.

Shell Rotella T3 NG SAE 15W-40 oil is suitable for applications such as trucks (and buses) fitted with engines designed to run on 100% CNG or LNG, particularly those preferring relatively low-ash formulations.

It’s said to provide an optimized balance of detergents and dispersants to promote good piston and engine cleanliness. As well it’s said to offer ignition system protection through reduced levels of ash-containing additives, which control deposit formation in the combustion chamber.
