Cummins B6.7 to come with propane power

Cummins will bring a propane-fueled B6.7 medium-duty engine to market, following an evaluation with the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC).

The 6.7-liter engine promises diesel-like performance and durability, and power ratings of 280-360 hp and 600-860 lb-ft of torque.

The option is suitable for applications including medium-duty trucks, vocational units, school buses, and terminal tractors, PERC says.

Cummins officials say the engine is expected to deliver lower carbon dioxide emissions than any other engine powered by propane Autogas.

Benefits of using propane Autogas include lower fuel and maintenance costs, PERC adds.
