Cummins X15 connects with Cascadias

by Today's Trucking

Cummins has released its first connectivity-enabled X15 Efficiency engine and Endurant HD powertrain for Freightliner Cascadias.

Users can take advantage of Cummins’ factory-installed Acumen engine computing module, which connects to the supplier’s technology platform for direct access to digital apps, over the air product enhancements, and future service integrations.

The data is delivered over cellular networks, and will be used to gain insights into how the vehicles operate in different environments and varying duty cycles.

Cummins says the X15 Efficiency Series with Acumen is its most advanced and connected engine.

There are also plans to expand Acumen to include other select engine and power system modules in the near future, the company adds.

Production on the X15 Efficiency Series with Acumen began in August.
