Dana adds e-axles to powertrain family

Dana is expanding its Spicer electrified e-powertrain family to include single and tandem e-axles for a variety of Class 7 and 8 trucks.

The Spicer Electrified Zero-8 e-axles use Dana technologies including Dana TM4 motors and inverters, Spicer high-efficiency axle gearing, Graziano synchronizers, transmission controllers, system software, and a shift system and controls.

The 4×2, 6×2, and 6×4 configurations are compatible with drum or disc brakes, and come as completely integrated fully dressed assemblies. The e-axles offer 52,000 to 69,000 Nm of nominal torque, and support gross axle weight ratings of 21,000 to 30,000 lb for single e-axle configurations, and 40,000 to 52,000 lb. for tandem e-axles.

Other features include a modular motor that Dana says offers easy access for maintenance, and the ability to interchange a motor to help accommodate different electrified platforms.

Dana electric powertrain offerings for Class 7 and 8 vehicles include systems for direct drive as well as 4×2, 6×2, and 6×4 multi-speed e-axle systems.
