Electronic Air-Processing Technology

Meritor WABCO introduced fuel-saving electronic air-processing technology to the North American truck market last week at Mid-America.

This “breakthrough connectivity technology” combines System Saver 1200 Plus air dryer technology with electronic fuel-saving software stored in Meritor WABCO’s anti-lock braking system. Integration of these technologies with the new connectivity tool reduces system cost for OEMs and helps fleets improve fuel efficiency. Mechanical air processing systems have been standard technology in North America, but Europe has been using electronic equivalents to good effect for some time.

This “highly intelligent and cost-effective” air-processing system will improve vehicle efficiency and boost fuel savings by up to 1%, says Meritor WABCO. The system’s single electronic control unit integrates Meritor WABCO’s proprietary fuel-saving software with braking, air compression and air cartridge regeneration.

System Saver 1200 Plus is now available on four major commercial vehicle manufacturer brands and is standard equipment for select models at three OEMs.
