Extreme-duty poly V-belt

Continental has unveiled a new extreme-duty poly-V belt available in eight-, 10- and 12-ribbed profiles for Class 6-8 trucks.

The belt is made of EPDM polymers that are said to resist cracks, cord adhesion and heat build-up. It was also tested against high underhood temperatures that can be traced to tighter emissions standards, and comes with a 160,000-kilometer guarantee.

The belt has four times the “flex life” of previous belts and was tested against temperatures that were 20% hotter than those mandated by the Society of Automotive Engineers, Continental says, noting that the tests simulated an engine with several accessories and low air circulation.
