Goodyear regional tires on their way

by Today's Trucking

Goodyear has unveiled a new Fuel Max RSD tire and three new UniCircle retread products — the Fuel Max RSD, Fuel Max RTD and UltraGrip RTD.

The Goodyear Fuel Max RSD (Regional Service Drive) is a super-regional drive tire that promises enhanced fuel efficiency, mileage and traction, and features tread compounds that resist tearing and improve miles to removal, the company says.

The tire is designed for single-axle day cabs that travel in urban and on-highway settings, and need to fight the scrubbing that comes with tight turns.

Regional fleets will also see three new spliceless UnicCycle retreads.

The Fuel Max RSD (Regional Service Drive) retread matches the Fuel Max RSD drive tire’s tread, combining traction needs with a SmartWay verification for fuel-efficiency.

The Fuel Max RTD (Regional Traction Drive) UniCircle Retread matches the recently launched Fuel Max RTD, featuring an open-shoulder design for added traction, Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake designation, and SmartWay certification.

UltraGrip RTD (Regional Traction Drive) retreads match the design of Goodyear’s best all-season regional drive tire in terms of traction and grip, the company says. The evolving open shoulder, biting edges and sipes earn the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake even when the tires are worn 50%.

The regional UniCircle retreads will be available in mid-2021. The Fuel Max RSD drive tire will initially launch in 295/75R22.5 (Load Range G), with additional sizes rolling out in 2022.
