INDEPENDENT FRONT SUSPENSION

Called “the industry’s first viable class 8 independent front suspension,” the new Class 8 IFS from Reyco Granning – part of Tuthill Transport Technologies – is now available. The maker says it allows heavy trucks to attain “automobile-type handling, with minimal cost and weight penalty.”

The suspension is designed for over-the-road trucks and is said to be easy to install (at the OEM factory, not as a retrofit) and easier to service. Tuthill says it will fit into existing assembly lines with little or no disruption.

It’s designed to work with either a conventional steering box or rack-and-pinion steering. Other features include anti-dive geometry, which keeps the nose of the vehicle stable during stops. A steering linkage design virtually eliminates bump steer, Tuthill claims.
