Kenworth is now delivering the first of its trucks with the 15-liter Cummins natural gas engine.

The first of those trucks went to UPS. It was a T680 day cab that is configured to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). The engine produces 400-500 hp with up to 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque.

The UPS truck is spec’d at 400 hp with 1,650 lb.-ft. of torque, and is mated to an Eaton Endurant HD automated transmission.

The Cummins X15N meets CARB and EPA emissions requirements for 2024 and 2027, the companies announced.

“We’re thrilled to be the first company to acquire the T680 with the X15N 15-liter natural gas engine,” said Anthony Marshall, UPS’s vice-president of maintenance and engineering. “This new truck enhances our worldwide fleet of over 18,000 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles, which are essential for achieving our target of 40% alternative fuel in our ground operations by 2025 and carbon neutrality by 2050.”
