Leece-Neville starters for medium and heavy-duty applications

by Today's Trucking

Prestolite Electric’s Leece-Neville M93 and M97 24V 6kW starters support a variety of medium-duty and heavy-duty applications, as well as off-highway vehicles and buses.

The in-line, gear-reduction units are already used on Cummins engines, and can be used as a replacement for many competing units, the company says.

The starters come in 10- and 12-tooth models, featuring a clockwise rotation, and in internal magnetic switch that helps to eliminate voltage drop by minimizing the wiring between the relay and solenoid. An electrical soft start helps to protect the ring gear, while the in-line gear-reduced design delivers more power in a small package.

There is a case ground (M93), and the unit is all-new with no core.
