TROY, Mich. — Meritor WABCO’s Easy-Stop trailer anti-lock braking system (ABS) has now been installed on 1.5 million units.

The company has reached the milestone in its tenth year of sales to the North American market.

“The system we offer today continues to provide reliability and benefits that are essential to our customers’ operations, as demonstrated by this significant milestone,” says Denny Sandberg, president of Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems. “Beyond the safety advantages offered by typical trailer ABS, our enhanced Easy-Stop provides unparalleled trailer monitoring and control capabilities.”

The braking system features power line carrier (PLC) communication and generic data inputs and outputs which enable communication between the ABS ECUs in both the tractor and the trailer. Meritor also says safety-conscious carriers have demanded reliability and safety and have thus asked for features such as integrated dual modulator valve designs, individually serviceable ECU and ABS modulator valves, and system configurations that meet virtually any trailer application.

The latest version of Meritor WABCO’s Easy-Stop family is the second generation of the product. The first was introduced in 1994.
