Michelin rolls out XDA Energy tire

Michelin has announced the introduction of the XDA Energy tire, a next generation ultra fuel-efficient drive axle radial truck tire designed for fleets using today’s low-profile 22.5-inch tires.

The new dual tire helps to lower fuel costs through the use of the latest compounding to help deliver good removal mileage and all-season traction, the company says.

Depending on vehicle configuration, the tire offers 1 to 2 per cent savings compared to existing fuel-efficient duals, and up to 5 per cent fuel savings versus existing high mileage drive duals, the company says. This new fuel-efficient tire has a 26/32-inch tread depth for longer original life and a seven-year, 700,000-mile, three retread-casing warranty. It uses exclusive Michelin rectangular bead construction for easy mounting and long casing life. It also has a full-width, elastic protector ply that helps shield the working plies from bruising and penetrations, thereby lowering downtime.
