Near Zero natural gas engine for Kenworth

Kenworth T680 and T880 trucks will be available with Cummins Westport ISL G Near Zero NOx emission natural gas engines in early 2017.

Emissions from the engines are 90% lower than the current NOx limit of 0.2 gram per brake horsepower-hour, and meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2017 standards for Greenhouse Gases. Advanced calibration, a three-way aftertreatment system, and closed crankcase ventilation system help to meet those.

The 8.9-liter Cummins Westport ISL G Near Zero offers up to 320 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. It can run on Compressed Natural Gas or Liquefied Natural Gas, and is even compatible with Renewable Natural Gas.
