Rand McNally releases 40th-anniversary atlas

by Today's Trucking

In the days of GPS units, there are still those who prefer to turn a page. In that spirit, Rand McNally has shipped out its 40th-anniversary Motor Carriers’ Road Atlas.

The 2021 edition – available as a paperback or with laminated pages and a spiral binding — features truck-accessible roads, state trucking regulations, and fuel tax charts.

The updated U.S. and Canadian maps include the renaming of a section of Interstate 680 to Interstate 880 in western Iowa, adding Loop 202 around Phoenix, and updated interstates in Rhode Island with mileage-based exit numbers.

Other details include revised restricted routes, low-clearance, and weigh station locations; a 22-page mileage directory that includes more than 40,000 truck-route-specific, city-to-city mileages; hotlines for road construction and conditions; and updated toll system contact information for each state.

A large-print edition includes maps that are 37% larger, too.
