‘Super single’ tires get a ‘SuperSpare’ mount

by Truck West

LONGVIEW, Texas – If you’re mounting a ‘super’ spare tire on your semi truck, you’ll need a ‘super’ spare tire mount to do the job.

The SuperSpare introduced by Stemco March 15 aims to simplify and reduce costs of roadside replacements and help fleets safely and efficiently operate with ‘super single’ tires.

The SuperSpare is designed to easily mount on the tractor in an accessible position for ease of use. They can be installed on tractors with at least 43” of available frame rail space and is compatible with ‘super single’ and regular truck tires.

Stemco indicated that although ‘super single’ tires were more fuel efficient, as they provide less road resistance, they do require immediate replacement when damaged, and having an easily accessible spare tire was vital for safety and efficiency.

“Every minute of unexpected downtime costs both fleets and driver’s valuable time and money,” said Royal Jones, president of Mesilla Valley Transportation. “Fleets that choose to install SuperSpare can rest assured that their trucks can be easily and quickly repaired on the side of the road, even if they are operating with ‘super single’ tires.”
