T800 GETS BIG RAD

Kenworth now offers a new 1780-sq-in. radiator for the T800 wide hood model. It’s one of the largest radiators on the market today for Class 8 over-the-road trucks aims to help offset added heat from the latest engines.

“Dissipating engine heat is a key for top performance, especially in high demand vocations such as heavy hauling and oilfield work,” says Mike Dozier, Kenworth chief engineer. “For Kenworth’s T800 wide hood model, we’ve designed a large, efficient radiator and cooling package which can handle up to 600 horsepower engines in applications that really work the engine.”

According to Dozier, the big new radiator is available for up to 140,000 lb GCW for all road conditions and offers the cooling needed when running up to a 600-hp engine in
slow-speed, high-power applications. The T800 wide hood radiator is designed for up to 600 hp engines and manual or automated transmissions in stationary applications, including pumping or drilling with a split-shaft, power-take-off that drives body-mounted equipment, such as an oilfield cementer.

The Kenworth T800 wide-hood model with the new radiator is available with the Cummins ISX 600 and other ratings plus Cat’s C15 and C13 engines in standard cab, Extended Day
Cab, or AeroCab sleeper configurations.
