Trail King sees Canada as key market for hopper

by Today's Trucking Staff

LOUISVILLE, KY – Trail King is leveraging last May’s acquisition of Dakota Trailer Manufacturing to unveil a new aluminum hopper within its AG product line – complete with a removable auger and Convey-All conveyor. And Canada’s grain producers are seen as a leading market for it.

The 45-foot AHTC 4503 trailer has a solid aluminum wall and 38-hp self-contained hydraulic system, and can be divided into four compartments. Its conveyor will swing 12 feet and rise up to 19 feet, helping to fill multiple bins with multiple materials. The belt-based conveyor is also gentle on seed kernels compared to an auger alone.

Other features include stainless steel door frames, a tri-axle Holland air ride suspension, 60″ axle spacing, and LED lights.

“We’re the only manufacturer that provides an OEM solution with an auger on the end,” added Rick Farris, vice president – sales and marketing. That unit can also be fully automated or controlled with a handheld remote.

The former Dakota plant has the capacity to build 1,000 of the trailers per year.

Trail King also recently dedicated two new employees to serving Canadian dealers. “That is a very valuable market for us,” Farris said.
