Ultra wide-base Yokohama tire promises to maximize payload

Yokohama Tire’s 716U ultra wide-base tire as been unveiled in a 455/55R225 size, supporting waste, recycling and on/off-road severe service operations that need to maximize payload.

The tire has a load range M (22 PR). Replacing traditional duals with four UWB tires reduces unsprung weight, allowing for a larger payload per trip, Yokohama stresses.

The zig-zag grooves enhance traction and wet-weather performance.

In terms of structure, an advanced compound resists scrubbing, cutting and chipping, and a zero-degree belt adds stability for a stable footprint.

Funnel-shaped step grooves, meanwhile, prevent stones and debris from reaching the bottom of the groove where casing damage occurs, while thick sidewall resists damage from potholes and curbing, supporting retreading, the company says.
