Utility offers 7-inch underride retrofits

by Today's Trucking

Utility Trailer Manufacturing dry vans, refrigerated vans and flatbeds produced after 2002 can be retrofitted with the manufacturer’s standard seven-inch-deep horizontal ICC bumper.

The U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has recently proposed adding impact guards to the list of annual inspection items. (That step is already required in Canada.) And Utility says these bumpers exceed all rear trailer guard safety regulations.

The ICC underride guard complies with U.S. and Transport Canada regulations, as well as standards set through the IIHS ToughGuard program. It’s available with stainless steel and bolt-on configurations, as well as a wider dock lock notch reinforcement, too.

The dock lock reinforcement plate offers two inches of additional clearance that will help increase dock lock stability and provide extra clearance for some specific docks with limited dock lock clearance.
