ZF OnTraX lane keeping makes N.A. debut with Paccar

by Today's Trucking

ZF is bringing its OnTraX lane keeping assist technology to the North American market in Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks built beginning this year.

It’s the first time the technology has been deployed in North America.

“We’re very pleased to partner with a global leader like Paccar to integrate this critical safety technology into their newest truck platform,” said Julien Plenchette, senior vice-president, Americas with ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions division. “We continue to work closely with our commercial vehicle customers to provide ADAS technology that can help to make the roadways safer for all travelers.”

OnTraX keeps the truck running in its lane when traveling above 40 mph or cruising speed. When the truck begins drifting out of its lane without the turn signal activated, the system’s ReAX adaptive steering module adjusts the steering torque and offers a gentle countersteer – or nudge – to push the truck back to the center of its lane.
