PMTC expands its education series with Jan. 13 seminar

TORONTO, Ont. – The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC) will aim to provide education on Ontario’s safety ratings, mandated periodic inspections and cargo security during its Jan. 13, 2016 seminar in Toronto.

Hosted at the Molson Breweries facility from 9 a.m. to noon, the PMTC’s expanding education series will feature senior staff from the Ontario ministry of transportation discussing the province’s Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) and how it is used to monitor a fleet’s road safety and its drivers, as well as how the ministry determines whether or not to intervene and impose sanctions based on a fleet’s ratings.

“Proactive fleets that regularly review CVOR reports can identify trends and respond to emerging issues before major problems occur,” said PMTC president Mike Millian. “We know the ratings can be a sensitive subject, so we are also giving attendees the chance to submit questions for ministry staff in advance, so they are not connected to an individual fleet.”

Other topics of discussion during the PMTC seminar will include a review of recent changes to the National Safety Code Standard 11B (the Highway Traffic Act Regulation 611 in Ontario) and a presentation on the growing challenge of cargo theft, hosted by AFIMAC Global, a security organization with over 30 years of experience, and will include tips on how to protect people, property and brand.

Attendance is $25 for PMTC members and $100 for non-members; contact Vanessa Cox at info@pmtc.ca or call 905-827-0587 to purchase tickets.
