AirIQ names COO

PICKERING, Ont. (Jan. 26, 2005) — Canadian telematics firm AirIQ announced the appointment of Kenneth Wiesner to chief operating officer.

Wiesner was president and CEO of Irving, Calif.-based Aircept, a company AirIQ acquired in 2004. He then joined AirIQ as president of the new Aircept division.

His appointment as COO is part of a company reorganization that includes:

Establishing five strategic business units to ensure maximum vertical market penetration; Combining areas of shared expertise such as technology, finance and corporate services; Streamlining technology solutions to five from approximately 20; Rationalizing internal accounting systems to eliminate duplication and to provide clear and concise financial reporting; 24×7 client care in Pickering, Ont.; Consolidating high volume staging and shipping in Irvine, Calif.; and Leading vehicular engineering from Irvine.

The plan consolidates five market segments: commercial fleets, consumer, vehicle finance, indirect distribution and marine. As COO, Wiesner will lead all five business units.
