ALL HWY. 407 USERS MUST NOW PAY TOLLS

BRAMPTON, Ont. — Out-of-province motorists and truckers that choose to use Toronto’s Hwy. 407 ETR are finally being held responsible for all tolls, fees and interest they incur.

The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) had been lobbying for this since the 407 was originally opened.

Now all 407 users are to make bill payments upon receipt, under the Hwy. 407 Act. If payment is not received within 90 days, a $30 late payment fee is applied and the account is sent to collections.

There are a number of cases currently in collections from across Canada and the U.S., as well as Mexico.

If a transponder is not used, video images of the rear licence plate are taken and the registered owner is responsible for the bill incurred.
