ArvinMeritor to grow “clear air” business

TROY, Mich. (July 23, 2004) — Truck components supplier ArvinMeritor says that its global market for commercial vehicle diesel emission systems will reach $3 billion annually by 2010.

The company aims on being a major player with a series of Clean Air Solutions products and technologies to address particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, and unburned hydrocarbon — all agents the Environmental Protection Agency has mandated to be drastically reduced or eliminated in diesel engines.

ArvinMeritor says it has contracts to supply two major European heavy truck OEMs with NOx control equipment in 2005. It will also supply PM filter systems to a North American heavy truck OEM for 2007.

The Indiana 21st Century Research and Development Fund recently gave ArvinMeritor a $1.7 million grant to assist in the development of a new clear air technology — the Plasma Fuel Reformer.
