Autocar expands parts distribution

UNION CITY, Ind. (July 29, 2002) — Coinciding with the company’s first anniversary on July 26, vocational truck maker Autocar LLC rolled out initiatives to streamline the flow of parts orders for its WX and WXLL Xpeditor vehicles.

The company announced that it is the sole supplier of parts that are exclusive to the Xpeditor line. Autocar also said it has opened two parts distribution centres in West Chicago, Ill., and Reno, Nev., and created a call centre for ordering parts and troubleshooting problems. The toll-free line (1-866/878-5980) is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. central time.

The company will offer on-line parts identification and ordering capability to its network of Autocar parts outlets located throughout the United States and Canada. Initially, Autocar will provide its dealers and customers with all part numbers that are exclusive to the Xpeditor. These part numbers will remain the same as the previously published part numbers in order to keep it simple for Xpeditor customers, the company said. Autocar plans to expand the exclusive parts offering to include proprietary parts as well, such as the popular T-ride suspension, in addition to other high volume, commonly used vendor parts.
