UNION CITY, Ind. — Autocar LLC has tipped its cap to the nameplate’s 100-year-old roots and updated its company logo.

Autocar kept many key components of the previous logo the same while giving it a more modern feel. The new company logo retains the same bowtie shape as the original logo but features bolder, cleaner lines and an all-uppercase typeface, according to the truckmaker. The silver and black color scheme remains.

“Autocar’s heritage is so important to us, which is why we wanted to stay true to the original logo,” says Bob Enright, president of Autocar LLC. “So many people have an emotional connection to the Autocar name. We are pleased that we can combine the name with a strong, reliable truck like the Xpeditor.”

Autocar sees the close relationship between the two logos as a symbol of the continuation of its rich legacy of manufacturing that began in 1897. Today, Autocar manufactures the Xpeditor, a Class 8 low-cab-over-engine truck used mainly for refuse hauling.

Parent company Grand Vehicle Works Holdings LLC purchased the Autocar brand name and the Xpeditor truck line from Volvo Trucks North America Inc. to form Autocar LLC in July 2001.
