Award ceremony a private affair

TORONTO, Ont. (Sept. 27, 2001) — The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada concluded its annual conference in Toronto today by announcing several PMTC award winners.

The PMTC & Zurich Canada Private Fleet Safety Award in the Medium Fleet category went to Mississauga, Ont-based Eaglebrook Inc. of Canada, which was represented by terminal manger Lloyd Moore. Bob Miskelly, director of distribution for Praxair Canada, accepted the same award for the Large Fleet category. It is the fourth consecutive year Praxair has been awarded the honor.

Ted Smith of Global Driver Services in Toronto, Ont. was named PMTC Driver of the Year. Smith, who has a 21-year accident free driving record, has been with Global Driving Services for the last 10 years and has also driven on behalf of Nabisco for 21 years.

The PMTC and 3M Canada 2001 Vehicle Graphics Design Awards were also handed out to the following members: Dupont Canada and Federated Cooperatives won in the Tractor-Trailer category, while Maple Lodge Farms and Piller’s Sausage took home the award for the Straight Truck category. For Van/Pickup, Molson Canada and Grand & Toy’s graphics impressed the judges the most. Shoppers Drug Mart and Molson Canada won in the Special Events/Promotional field, while the designs of The Beer Store and Organic Express Inc. won them an award in the Night Time Safety category.
