OTTAWA, Ont. — Crude oil production in Canada totaled almost 11 million cubic metres in May, down a modest 0.1 per cent from the previous year.

At the same time, exports — which accounted for 62.1 per cent of total production — actually slid by 7.8 per cent.

Marketable natural gas production rose 2.9 per cent over the same period, while domestic sales fell 8.2 per cent. Warmer-than-normal temperatures in Canada resulted in sharply lower sales to the residential and commercial sectors, according to Statistics Canada.
