Canadian transportation rates slide slightly in April: CGFI

TORONTO, Ont. — The total cost of ground transportation for Canadian shippers decreased 0.4% in April, according to the latest Canadian General Freight Index.

Rates decreased 0.4% in April compared to March. The base rate was down 0.3% and fuel surcharges decreased to 21.45% of the base rate from 22.57% in March.

“Cross-border truckload increased marginally offset by decreases in domestic truckload, domestic LTL and cross-border LTL,” said Doug Payne, president and COO, Nulogx. “Total costs of freight are 3.7% above last year at this time.”
