ST. JOHN’S, Nfld. — The Consumer Group for Fair Gas Prices met up with Newfoundland’s Minister of Government Services and Lands, Walter Noel, yesterday to discuss Bill 4.

The proposed Bill, which is aimed at regulating fuel costs and creating more consistent rates, was well-received by Noel.

“I pointed out that government’s goal is to restore consumer confidence through putting regulations in place to ensure that price changes occur on a regular basis and that prices are justifiable. We agreed that the office of the commissioner must have the ability and flexibility to get the job done in a transparent manner that is acceptable to consumers," says Noel.

Although bringing Bill 4 to fruition may be a lengthy process, Noel assures consumers that something will be done to control soaring fuel prices by this summer.
