Chevrette using a double standard

MONTREAL, Que. — The editor of a daily paper in Montreal says Quebec Transport Minister Guy Chevrette, who has urged motorists to slow down, is using a double standard when it comes to speeding.

Dany Doucet, the managing editor of Le Journal de Montreal says Chevrette, who is in favour of adopting photo radar to catch speeders, was seen travelling at 132 kilometres an hour in a 100 km-h zone.

The newspaper published a photo on its front page, yesterday, showing the dashboard speedometer in Le Journal’s car as it apparently kept pace with Chevrette’s vehicle.

Doucet says the newspapers car was in traffic with other vehicles surrounding them. “He’s made all kinds of public declarations recently about speeding.”
