Clark named Ontario transport minister

TORONTO (Feb. 8, 2001) — Stoney Creek Tory MPP Brad Clark was named Ontario’s transportation minister today when Premier Mike Harris shuffled his cabinet.

Clark replaced David Turnbull in a wide-ranging cabinet shakeup. The moves are needed to fill vacancies created by the resignations of Finance Minister Ernie Eves and Economic Development Minister Al Palladini.

Clark represents the Hamilton area, which is at the centre of several key transportation issues. Local businesses are pushing for a new superhighway across the southern Niagara region to relieve commerical traffic congestion. Also, initial planning on the Red Hill Creek Expressway has been delayed because of a federal environmental assessment of its route in east Hamilton.
