Clark slams federal rail scheme (September 07, 2001)
TORONTO, Ont. — A proposal that would see Ottawa spend $2 billion to eliminate one million truck-trips from Ontario’s congested Hwy. 401 annually, met with criticism in Queen’s Park.
Ontario’s Minister of Transportation Brad Clark says the idea of moving the cargo onto trains makes no
Sense whatsoever.
The money would be better spent on public transit and improving the existing highway network, Clark adds.
