Computers that can handle the cold

Glacier Computer
Glacier Computer develops computers that live up to the company name. One its most popular models is a 12-inch colour touch-screen design called M-Station, a forklift-mounted Windows PC that can handle the wild temperature swings of a cold storage warehouse. An optional screen heater helps it function in down to -30 C. By bringing the temperature of the touch-screen surface above dew point, the display heater helps cut down on condensation that might occur when the computer moves between warm and cold climates. This prevents water droplets from freezing on the screen when brought back to a colder environment.

The computer also has an isolated power supply, a convenient feature when you’re operating an electric truck (you can exchange the vehicle battery without having to reboot the computer).
Besides the screen heater and power protection features, the M-Station’s vehicle mount system includes cordless bar-code scanners, printing capabilities, 802.11b wireless networking, and a printer. For more information, contact, 603/882-1560 or visit www.glaciercomputer.com.
