CPR and Fastfrate send food to needy kids

WOODBRIDGE, Ont. (Nov. 20, 2002) — Consolidated Fastfrate Inc., one of Canada’s largest freight carriers, will join forces with Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) to raise funds and awareness for Canada’s needy this holiday season.

Fastfrate will be sponsoring the railway’s two Holiday Trains, which travel to 50 Canadian communities, picking up and delivering food and clothing to the nation’s most needy children. In a press release, Ron Tepper, the company’s president and CEO called poverty a “social epidemic which is silently attacking our children.”

Since its inception four years ago, the Holiday Train has attracted thousands of people, collected 73 tons of food and raised some CAD$900,000. “I urge everyone in the communities being visited by the trains to come out and support this very important cause,” Tepper added.
