Day and Ross buys refrigerated carrier

WINNIPEG, (June 25, 2003) — The Day & Ross Group has acquired Central Freight Distributors Ltd., a Winnipeg-based refrigerated trucking operation.

Day & Ross president John Doucet called the move an excellent opportunity to expand the company’s truckload operations into Western Canada.

Central Freight has 50 refrigerated trailers, 18 tractors, 25 owner-operators, and 50 employees. The company will continue to operate under the same name. Operations manager Brad Turchyn, and controller Dana Elliot, will remain with the company under president Brian Murray, who is also president of Fastrax Transportation, another division of Day and Ross.
