Day tells Ottawa to let loggers protect wildlife

KELOWNA, B.C. — Opposition leader, Stockwell Day, has accused Ottawa of putting their nose in where it doesn’t belong, costing logging companies big bucks.

Day lashed out at the species at risk bill, which would put thousands of hectares of land off-limits to loggers.

However, Day warns that forest companies have a better understanding of how to protect endangered wildlife than the federal government.

The law in question is currently in the committee stage and calls for no logging activity on land that is home to more than 25 species at risk.
