Do The Sopranos & Trucking Mix? Showtime Thinks So

U.S. cable network Showtime has announced that it is producing a scripted drama about the world of truckers in the heartland of America.

As Deadline reports, the show — called Heartland Trucking — “is described as a scripted examination of the world of truckers in middle America and a family run business that serves those truckers as well as its own criminal agenda.”

So, while details are still sparse, it seems like we may be headed for a mixture of The Sopranos and the world of your everyday trucker. Well, maybe not so everyday in this case.

The show is being penned by Tony Tost, an award-winning poet and writer of A&E’s Longmire, and will be produced by Television 360, which has worked on HBO’s Game of Thrones, as well as Fox 21.

[BTW: TodaysTrucking.com contacted the very real Heartland Express in Iowa for a comment to see if they had an opinion on a show like this bearing their name. We’re still waiting to hear back from them.]
