Edmonton, Alta. — Canadian National’s new Edmonton intermodal terminal, located on 370 acres adjacent to the transcontinental main line, was recently inaugurated.

The new location will provide truckers with easy access to and from the Yellowhead Trail providing passage to key cities throughout northern Alberta.

“This $25-million terminal strengthens our ability to provide Alberta shippers and receivers with efficient, reliable and truck-competitive rail transportation,” says Paul Telher, Canadian National’s president and chief executive officer.

The terminal will be open seven days a week, with an initial annual capacity of 150,000 intermodal units. It is equipped with three front-lift mobile cranes and has seven tracks that can accommodate trains up to 12,000 feet long.
