Emery Worldwide expands brokerage business on U.S.-Mexico border

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (August 28, 2001) — Emery Worldwide, the global heavyweight transportation subsidiary of CNF Inc., will launch in September a southern border expansion of its customs brokerage unit to provide full customs brokerage service coverage along the U.S.-Mexico border to cities in California, Arizona, and Texas.

The expansion will begin with the opening of a customs brokerage office in San Diego, with locations in Brownsville/McAllen, Texas, and Tucson/Nogales, Ariz., to follow this fall. The company has offices in El Paso and Laredo, Texas.

Emery also announced that Lori Rodriguez has been promoted to manager, Southern Border Network for the customs brokerage unit. She reports to Jeff Hammond, senior director of Emery’s customs brokerage unit.

Emery’s customs brokerage unit has two centralized service centres in North America, one in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, and the other in Toronto. The customs brokers network also includes 39 fully staffed offices in the United States and Canada, each managed by a licensed customs broker.
