Forest fire results in road closure

PRINCETON, B.C. — An 80-hectare forest fire caused by a burning motorhome forced the closure of Hwy. 3, 30 kilometres southwest of Princeton yesterday.

As of last night the highway was still closed and the fire was still very active.

More than 100 firefighters were combating the blaze and extra air tankers were being called in, but the possibility of lightning was threatening to make matters worse.

Hope Royal Canadian Mounted Police say the road may be opened back up today if the fire is under control.
