Fox cancels Canadian visit

CALGARY, Alta. — In a strange move yesterday, the Mexican Revolutionary Institutional Party prohibited Mexican President Vicente Fox from visiting Calgary and Vancouver.

The president was originally planning to talk trade with leaders of Alberta and B.C., but the trip was shot down by his political foes by a vote of 71-41.

Those who kyboshed the trip say they did so because Fox has yet to brief them on the results of last month’s UN summit on international development, and that he hadn’t sufficiently explained the Smart Border agreement he signed with the U.S.
