Hauling Hunger out of Atlantic Canada

TRURO, NS — The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) is running a food drive this Saturday, June 1, to support a local food bank.

The food drive, which is organized by the APTA’s Safety Council, is happening during their annual Atlantic Driving Championships. All non-perishable items donated go to the Colchester Food Bank.

The event kicks off on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Commercial Safety College in Masstown, NS and runs until 3 p.m.

Throughout the day there will be events like driving skill competitions (for professional truckers), a show and shine, kids games and prizes, an amateur driving competition, a driving simulator and more.

“It’s wonderful that the trucking association is supporting the local food bank,” says Darlene Dubreuil, coordinator’s assistant for the food bank. “We have worked with the Commercial Safety College in the past and they are always there to lend a helping hand.”
