SOMERSET, Ky. — Hayes Lemmerz International, an auto-wheel maker that sought bankruptcy protection in December, says it will close a here.

The facility is still making aluminum wheels, but that’s expected to change by the end of March.

The closure will result in pretax expenses of $10.7 million, including $6.3 million in its fourth quarter ended in January and $4.4 million this fiscal year, according to the company.

Hayes didn’t say how many workers will be affected, however it stresses production will shift to other plants.
