BLAINVILLE, Que. — There is yet no word on whether the driver of a truck destroyed by a hazardous waste explosion was among the six people injured by Monday’s blast.

Parts of the roof and a side-wall of the Stablex Inc. plant, which specializes in the recovery of dangerous chemical products, were also demolished.

No toxic material was released into the environment, one company official tells media, adding the blast is being blamed on a chemical reaction.

The Blainville police director says police, fire and ambulance officials co-ordinated their efforts to minimize risks from the explosions.
