Hino Invests in Students with Truck Donation

Mohawk College students pose with their new Hino 195

WOODSTOCK, ON. — Hino Motors donated a 2012 195 truck to Mohawk College in Stoney Creek yesterday.

The truck will be used for educational purposes by automotive students at the college — and that’s something that Derek Holman, senior manager at Hino’s Woodstock plant, would like to see more of from the trucking industry.

“We sincerely hope that this donation for education purposes may become the norm and that Mohawk along with other colleges will receive similar donations from the automotive and trucking industries,” he said, adding that it was “refreshing to see such a young group of energized and enthusiastic people who all have this common goal in mind.”

On hand for the delivery was Pat Sobeski, mayor of Woodstock, Shuichi Kaneko, president of Hino Motors Canada, Anthony Fazzari, associate dean of Mohawk College and Bob Cook, professor of Motive Power.

Hino said that its Woodstock plant will be signicantly increasing production in January, and as a result, has “increased the number of team members.”

“The future of Hino Canada is very bright and also for the students of Mohawk College and we are extremely happy to be a small part of each student’s success,” said Kaneko.
