by Truck News

TORONTO, Ont. – Humber’s Transportation Training Centre is turning 25 and is holding a career fair and open house to celebrate.

The career fair and open house is set to take place on October 3rd from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Humber College – Learning Resources Commons, 205 Humber College Blvd., Toronto, Ontario.

According to the organizers, close to 30 of the nation’s top employers will be on hand to discuss a wide variety of exciting opportunities in the trucking industry.

Activities include:
*MLSE promo trucks for the Toronto Maple Leafs
*Opening remarks from Humber President Chris Whitaker at 11 a.m
*Free BBQ lunch at noon
* Truck rides – experience what it’s like to be in the cab of a tractor trailer unit
*Draws for a free truck course (valued at $1500) and a free motorcycle course (valued at $555)

“Teaching soft skills, cargo security, US regulations and more, we focus on promoting road safety and developing graduates that are widely accepted in the industry,” said Rick Mikula, program liaison officer at Humber. “Employers don’t hire a driver’s licence to drive a truck, they hire a person. Humber is in the business of developing people that meet industry needs.”

Humber offers commercial driver driving for licence class G to AZ (tractor-trailer), G to DZ (straight truck), and DZ to AZ (tractor-trailer from straight truck licence).
